The U.S. Consumer Products Safety Commission (CPSC) announced a voluntary recall of Sagittarius Sporting Goods gas grills due to fire and burn hazards, Jan. 6, 2010. The recall includes about 10,000 gas grills sold under the name Master Forge Five-Burner Gas Grills.
According to the CPSC, the stainless steel grills have a flexible rubber hose attached to the gas tank, that if exposed to the burner box, can melt and rupture when the grill is lit. The product defect has the potential of starting a fire and burning consumers.
Product Description
The grills involved in the recall are stainless steel gas grills with five burners. The name “Master Forger” is on the hood of the grill and the model number, L3218, can be found on a label inside the left door on the front of the grill.
The grills were sold exclusively at Lowe’s between September 2009 and November 2009. Each unit sold for $500.
If You Have a Recalled Grill
If you own one of the recalled grills, the CPSC advises you to stop using the grill until you get it fixed. Sagittarius is providing consumers with free repair kits and instruction guides to fix the defective grills.
